AcroYoga Workshop and Jam with Rob Li

Saturday, July 29th 2-4pm at DY Northern Liberties

Rob acro promo

Acroyoga is a beautiful practice that combines the dynamic wisdom of acrobatics, the awareness, breath and balance of yoga and the healing, loving nature of Thai massage. It’s a community practice, which, at it’s simplest, means that you are working with other people. In this way we can practice developing trust, connection and openness which can then be taken into the community as a whole. AcroYoga is an exhilarating and open ended practice. It leads towards hard to achieve asana positions such as scorpion, headstands and handstands. It also deepens backbends, lengthens hamstrings and opens hips, as well as an endless array of flying positions that no-one has thought of a name for yet.
AcroYogis are a friendly bunch. They want everyone to win and everyone to be happy!  Apart from happiness, other qualities you can expect to develop from the AcroYoga practice are confidence, sensitivity, trust, poise, determination, a sense of community as well as physical attributes like upper body strength, core ability, suppleness and grace. These qualities can be taken into your daily life and, in your own little way, you can contribute, in a very real way, to helping the world be a better place.
About Rob:  Rob was a cheerleader for Drexel University, for the Philadelphia Soul, and for the Philadelphia 76ers. He helped coach and build the co-ed cheerleading teams for Drexel and Temple University.  He has since then been heavily involved with and teaching Acro wherever he goes. If you do the math, he has been tossing people around in the air for about 2 decades. As an added bonus, Rob is also working on lifting up 2,017 people this year. If anyone wants to be Insta-Famous and be part of the challenge, Rob will gladly lift them up. Bodies of all shapes and sizes are welcome. No experience necessary. Come get a cool picture taken doing something awesome and be part of something amazing. #ridetherob2017

Alignment Techniques for a Sustainable Yoga Practice and

Ayurvedic Lifestyle Tips

Saturday and Sunday September 23rd and 24th 12-5pm each day

with Richmond Dickson at Dhyana Yoga Rittenhouse

Today’s yoga instruction has become heavily influenced by Western anatomical language and cueing. The problem that this presents is that it leads the mind toward the intellectual and away from the experiential, and over exerts the physical body, at its own detriment, in pursuit of an external form. In this informative and transformative workshop you will uncover and unravel the mysteries and intricacies of functional movement and alignment, and come to better understand how injuries are caused by a yoga practice that is overly willful. You will obtain a general understanding of the gross anatomical features of muscles, bones and fascia and how the body, by way of the myofascial matrix, uses a  fluid dynamic system to create balance in structure and ease in movement. As you learn to listen and respond to these subtle energetics you will integrate a new awareness into the physical practice of yoga, which will lead you beyond the obstructions and limitations of your practice.

Richmond Dickson began practicing and studying yoga, and massage therapy and bodywork in 2001. His understanding and awareness of the physical and energetic forms of the body stem from his training in myofascial and musculo-skeletal anatomy at the Core Institute School of Massage Therapy and Bodywork, where he went on to head the Department of Sciences. Richmond has worked his entire professional career, as a Licensed Massage Therapist and yoga instructor, to help his clients better understand their postural habits and dysfunctional patterns for the purpose of reducing injury, and/or rehabilitating and reducing chronic pain syndromes. Richmond has a degree in Alternative Medicine, is an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant and Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist, and is the founder and owner of The New England School of Therapeutics. A Weekend Meditation Immersion

“Primordial Sound Meditation” with Diana Vitarelli

Saturday and Sunday, October 14th & 15th 12-5pm each day

meditation water

Meditation is the most natural way to create more of what matters most to you in life. This two-day Meditation Training allows you to establish (or deepen) a meditation practice which will lead to a more meaningful, satisfying, and joyful life. Rooted in the wisdom of ancient Vedic tradition, Primordial Sound Meditation is an authentic methodology that was revitalized by Deepak Chopra. According to tradition, as you journey from activity to silence you open new possibilities for physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

During this program we will explore proof of the effectiveness of meditation and you will receive expert guidance on the practical aspects of meditation – including how to sit, when to meditate, how long to meditate, how to overcome obstacles and other experiences during meditation. You are also invited to participate in a very special one-to-one personal instruction ceremony, in which you will be given a personal mantra based on the exact time, date, and location of your birth. This mantra is the sound that the universe was making the moment you were born. Primordial Sound Meditation tradition says that your personal mantra is the vehicle that will take you from activity to inner silence.

Whether it is your first time trying meditation, or if you have a regular practice, you will create a new experience around meditation that will transform your everyday life. Join us and learn how to receive the full physical and emotional benefits of meditation. This powerful program will help you dissolve accumulated stress, reveal the stillness within, and renew your passion for life.

fee: $225 by 10/1, $250 after — you can tender payment in person, by calling 215-222-9642 (YOGA), by creating an account in our software at or via Venmo — search @peaceandpizza // we will need your birth information to calculate your personal mantra for the weekend, so please don’t delay in signing up if you plan to attend!

Course includes: Introduction to meditation and guided practice taught by Chopra Center Certified Instructor, Personal one-to-one Primordial Sound mantra ceremony, Yoga class (as time allows or before/after), Mindfulness practices and continued community support!
